Day 9 - A little macro work

Day 9 did not give me much time to get out with my camera.  This is straight out of the camera and would benefit from a bit of post processing.  Maybe tomorrow! Enjoy!

Day 8 - Four Windows

Day 8 - A bit of DC architecture.  I admit to having to lurk a bit at one end of this corridor off a public courtyard to wait for people to get out of the frame. This is part of the EPA building off 12th Street.  I've walked through this corridor to the Metro numerous times and I've thought many times about photographing it.  The light from the courtyard and the multiple curves really please the eye.  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Time!

Day 7 - With Halloween around the corner and fall here, it is time to start thinking about pumpkins!

Day 6 - Going Abstract!

I definitely started with a different idea than what I end up with today.  Sometimes, as I'm working on a photo, I'll play around with various settings or take a shot from a different angle, just to see what pops up on the screen.  This was one of those, hmmmm...now's that's a little different.  After tweaking the subject a bit, I hit upon this image.  Enjoy!

Day 5 - A Vintage Schwin

Day 5 - I found this vintage Schwin bike outside the DC main library.  Frankly, the lighting isn't quite what I would hope for, but I love the colors.  I was a little rushed, but would love to photograph this bike again.

Day 4 - Rainy Day!

Day 4 brought a bit of rain! Photo 1: During my lunch walk, the drizzle came down pretty good, but the clouds were light enough to produce vibrant colors. So, I pointed my lens up to get it covered with water droplets, set a long shutter speed, and captured this taxi speeding by as I walked across Constitution Avenue near the National Archives.
Photo 2: Part of my lunch walk was through the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden. There's an enormous sculpture of a bare tree fabricated out of metal. This image has been tweaked a bit.
Photo 3: The Metro ride home provide a chance to capture some graffiti.

Day 3 - Palm Frond Plant?!

Day 3 and another quick spin around some of the Smithsonian gardens during my lunch - definitely helps to work across the street from the National Mall! Tucked around the Smithsonian Castle are a number of gardens. Definitely hidden gems! Toward the end of my stroll I found a garden with a number of these palm frond-like plants low to the ground. This is pretty much straight out of the camera and I think it could use a bit of post-processing (this weekend!).  Enjoy!

Photo A Day Project Day 2!

Day 2 of a month of photos. I plan to do a mix of basically straight out of the camera and photos that have been processed a bit in Adobe Lightroom. I took this during my lunch hour at a small garden near the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The garden, which runs the about a half-block is designed to showcase different habitats in the area and to offer gardeners some ideas of native plant species, particularly those that will attract butterflies. No butterflies today, but lots of bees - also a good thing! Enjoy!
