Mosaic floor - LOC

In what is likely a futile effort to fully organize my photography archives, I've been stumbling across old shots that have caught my eye.  This is a mosaic tile floor in the Library of Congress.  As I look at it now, I wish I had put that bottom yellow circle just a little higher in the frame and maybe just a smidge more depth of field.  Overall though, I love the colors contrasted against the dark shadow lines from a nearby window.  Enjoy!

Two Hearts

This was taken today (how about that, a same day post!) in Kensington. It is a little hard to tell, but this is the back of a park bench near the Noyes Library.  My first take on this one was of more of the back of the bench, but then I noticed these two hearts in the frame, adjusted just a bit, and snapped again.

A little snow day fun!

This post has little, if anything, to do with photography, but I had a bit of "artistic" fun with the recent snow.  This started as an Easter Island head, but morphed a bit.  Enjoy!

A shell game?

Yesterday, I noticed some excellent diffuse light coming through our bay window and I set up an impromptu macro shoot with some shells we've collected on vacations.  The bottom three were all shot using the HDR (high dynamic range) feature of my new 70D.  Basically, the camera takes a shot with my setting and then two other shots with exposure value above and below the first shot (so one underexposed and one overexposed).  Then the brain of the camera spits out one image that really captures the full exposure range for the subject.  Enjoy!

Interesting Reflection

This is completely unedited shot from a recent trip around the neighborhood after a rainy day.  Regular blog visitors will note that I've been a big fan of shooting reflections in water, although this one is a slightly different take.  Enjoy!
